Northern Irelands Secret Bunker

We had the most fantastic visit as part of the European heritage open days. Alistair, Colin and everyone else were superb explaining to us about every aspect of the station. There were ample opportunities for our three boys to learn and have hands on experience. The highlight was going down underground, and Colin was inspiring talking about the role of the corps, and sharing personal insights. These people gave their time to help us survive the unimaginable during very dark days. What a fantastic place for future generations to know how other people gave long hours in tough conditions to keep the peace. In one word. Unmissable.

Had a wonderful visit to the NI secret bunker today with members of the Classic Rover Club NI. Really great place to learn about NI's place in protecting the UK, British Isles and our cousins across the pond from nuclear attack. Thank you, Gavin

Great day yesterday meeting up with old comrades from 45 Post. Many thanks to Alastair and his dedication on restoring 45 Post to better than it's former glory. Wonderful to meet Janet, Lorraine, Dave, Colin, (great facial hair) Gareth and Malcolm and also remembering the late C/Obs Jim Pickering and Obs Bill Caddell.

Alaistair,
Very enjoyable visit today! Together with my Dad, Uncle and Nephew, we had a great trip and were very impressed at all the work you have put into restoring the bunker and the effort for the open day. Your tour was very informative and it was also very interesting talking to the ex-ROC who had manned the site. They did an excellent job and I think the whole experience brings home the very real fear of nuclear attack during the Cold War.
Many thanks again!

Well done to all involved with this museum, glad we checked the local guide book before we arrived in Northern Ireland for our holiday. Since getting home we have found out there was one of these bunkers in our village.

Great day out, plenty to see, both of the guides are really knowledgable and friendly.

Should be more local museums like this!

Great museum, amazing to think this was all going on behind our backs in the 80's.

Thanks ever so much for the private tour, we will bring our friends to the next open day.
